Unlike summative evaluations, findings from real-time evaluation help make rapid adjustments and improvements to ongoing activities and subsequently help ex-post evaluations.

Low carbon development gained prominence at the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen. Since then, many countries have established low emissions growth strategies aligned to their national development plans.
