Study Finds Mitigation Without Adaptation Can Increase Community Vulnerabilities

Many tropical forests countries are seeking to reduce their carbon footprints through forest conservation programs. But while these countries move forward with such policies, a study by researchers of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) in two villages located in Southern Cameroon has found that tackling carbon emission reduction without a commensurate strenghtening of their adaptation capacities could leave local communities further vulnerable.
