Back in 2008, delegates to the Alexandria International Conference on Evaluation of Climate change and Development proposed the creation of a virtual knowledge exchange platform.

Thanks to the financial largess of a few bilateral partners -- Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Norway), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Denmark), Deutsche GesselschaftfuerInternationaleZusammenarbeit (Germany), Agence Française de Developpement (France), the Department for International Development (United Kingdom). Federal Ministry for the Environment (Switzerland), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Netherlands) and Swedish Development Corporation Agency (SIDA), and the GEF Evaluation Office in Washington DC, Climate-Eval was launched.

From a few hundred members, Climate-Eval Community of Practice has grown to close to 2000 members on Linkedin and about 1300 on the knowledge platform. And growing every day.

Our traffic stats have continued to encourage us and we move into this new year ready to continue with our ?slow? but ?steady? approach towards building a state-of-the-art and cutting edge electronic repository of evaluation of climate change and natural resources management.

We will like vibrant and crtitical debates and enagegment among peers. So far, we would be the first to admit that we at not there yet. ?For it to fulfill its full potential, it would require that all members of the community volunteer to share their perspectives, opinions and thoughts on whatever climate change and development related study, evaluation or report they may be working with? explains the GEFEO Director.

With respect to this latest iteration of the site, the key sections are the following:

  1. A re-organized electronic depository of about 400 evaluations of climate change and natural resources management;
  2. A section designed mainly to facilitate interaction before, during and after the 2014 international conference which Climate-Eval via the GEF IEO will organize in the months ahead;
  3. A community page which offers our members the opportunity to engage via our active 2000-member strong Linkedin discussion forum, Twitter platform and You Tube;
  4. Possibilities to share your favorite content and other related resources throughout social media.
