The project aims to improve the efficiency and stability of electricity supply in the rural areas from Jamuna River and to the south/west through the construction and rehabilitation of power distribution facilities.

The Comprehensive Disaster Management Program (CDPM) is a five year multi-development partner supported programme, running from 2004 to 2009.

In 1999 Sida initiated cooperation with Dhaka in the area of urban transportation.

The Bangladesh Coastal Embankment Rehabilitation Project (CERP) was initiated in response to the devastating cyclone of 1987, and approved in 1995. The project closed in 2003.

Bangladesh is a developing country in south Asia with an area of 147, 570 square kilometres and a population of 123.1 million (2001 census). The physical environment of Bangladesh is diverse.
